screenshotsProject Gotham Racing 3 Preview (Articles)
I love this game. There I said it, but it's true, I really do love this game. I've been a fan of the series since the days of Metropolis Street Racer back on the Dreamcast. In the same way each game has improved upon the other, PGR with improved graphics, PGR2 with online play; PGR3 brings astounding graphics and the addition of a map editor and the most exciting feature of all, Gotham TV.
The five areas in the game are New York, London, Las Vegas, Tokyo and Nuremburg-ring. During the playtest we got the chance to play on each one, London being slightly surreal because we could see part of the circuit from the penthouse suite.
New York is simply breathtaking in its visuals, crossing the bridges is an experience to behold. The sense of speed seems just right and in tune with previous PGR games. Tokyo is likely to become a multiplayer favourite with its wide streets and tight winding corners.
Las Vegas is one great big light show and has some seriously good tracks. And well, Nuremburg-ring; you'll realise how big it really is when you see the current F1 track tagged onto the bottom of the track.
The first thing you're going to notice when you put this game in the drive are the graphics. The increased textures and more detailed models are to be expected, and do add significantly to the atmosphere. However, the top two additions are the in-car view and motion blur.
