Midnight Nowhere (Reviews)
Approaching a new adventure game is always and, err… adventure, especially as I am a long term dedicated adventure game fan. I had been interested in Midnight Nowhere as 3D point and click adventure games are fairly thin on the ground.

When you start the game, after an introductory movie you find yourself in a morgue surrounded by bodies. The introduction gives you almost no information about who you are or why you're in the morgue, and it's up to you to discover what happened, who you are, and escape from the hospital.

The game's interface is a fairly simple one, with a choice of four actions available from a small menu at the top of the screen. You can manually select these actions, or scroll through them using the mouse wheel (if you have one), applying each of the potential actions to the various hot spots that can be found in each screen of the game.

Movement is also very simple, a case of clicking somewhere on the screen and waiting for your avatar to move to that position. Moving between screens is handled the same way.

Once you start getting into the game however things start getting a little more complicated. Whilst the mouse cursor changes appearance when you roll over a hotspot, you may have more than one choice of action on each hotspot, or performing one action may result in another becoming available, so you will find yourself continually trying all four actions on each hotspot.

You are also equipped with an inventory for storing items, although you are only allowed to collect certain things. To solve some of the puzzles you will have to combine items within your inventory to create new items. This is fairly simple, if at first counter-intuitive. There are also certain items that need to be ‘used' inside your inventory to reveal different items to allow you to continue through the game.
