Lookin' Good - Sega GT Online//Console News

Sega obviously thought we all needed cheering up on this dull and dreary Monday morning, and have kindly released some sunny new screenshots of forthcoming Xbox racer Sega GT Online.

They also know what it takes to make a young lady go weak at the knees these days as the screenie selection includes a high resolution picture of the decidedly saucy Mazda RX-8.

We hear that Sega's in-house title, due sometime around Christmas 2003, is geared up for twelve-player online support. But the Xbox Live-deficient need fear not - a solid offline component is to be included that will feature fully customisable motors as well as challenges that will enable you to unlock new cars, parts and tracks.

Japanese Console Sales Charts//Console News

(article by Media Create)

Total sales for the TOP 100 this week represents 148.12% of the last week's total, and 64.15% of the weekly average. Despite the mid June being usually one of the slow weeks of the year, many new releases with "Mother 1 + 2" at the top of the list ranked high in the rankings, and this week was blessed with relatively good line-ups.

There were 11 new titles made it into the rankings this week with their share representing 54.06% of the total sales units. Other than #1 ranking "Mother 1 + 2", "Enter The Matrix", "Sonic Adventure DX", "The King of Fighters 2002", "Metal Slug 3" and "Pachinko Slot! Savanna Park" made it top 10 in the rankings and revived the market as a whole.

Hardware market on the hand saw the release of Game Cube "Enjoy Plus Pack", which bundles Game Boy Player with the hardware. Accordingly, Game Cube has enjoyed favorable sales of over 20,000 units, which is about 171% over the last week's sales. As for the PlayStation BB Pack, which was released last week, showed drastic downturn in sales this week from around 22,000 units last week to about 9,000 units. The reason for this relatively fast decline in sales could be coming from the fact that the number of online users are quite limited as the entry into online games and set-ups are still considered to be quite difficult for many.

Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness Latest//General News

Eidos have released a press statement in relation to the planned shipment of the multi-language version of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness for the PC and PS2. The PC vesion is still on track for a release before the end of Eidos' financial year on June 30, however it is likely that the PS2 version will slip into July.

Eidos have thus reduced their expectations for profit before tax for the current financial year.

Best guesses is that the PC version will ship on Monday (well, that is the 30th), and the PS2 version will ship on July 4th. The US versions, both PS2 and PC, have already shipped to stores and been on sale for several weeks.
