| Half-Life 2 Gold Rumour: Debunked | //General News | The latest rumour to hit the Internet is that the eagerly awaited Half Life 2 has gone gone. The original notice was apparently made on the forums at HL2 Fallout, a site which has now dropped off the Internet from the traffic generated.
It appears the post was made by someone who had managed to log in to Gabe Newell's forum account on the HL2 Fallout forums, and a subsequent email from Valvle has scotched any rumours about the imminent gold status of Half Life 2. posted by cro on 28/08/2004 at 11:18:52

| Latest Japanese Console Sales Charts | //Console News | (article by Media Create)
Sales of the top 100 titles totalled 798,210 units this week, 67.63% of last
week's total and 82.03% of the weekly average. Custom fell off with the end of
the obon holidays, and sales dropped by around 382,000 from last week. Total
sales for the same week last year (third week of August) were 505,180 units, and
565,847 units the year before that. Typically, the end of the obon holiday means
fewer customers and falling rapidly game sales. However, the launch of "Suikoden
IV" this year cushioned the decline this year.
Three new titles broke into the ranks. New games accounted for 31.94% of
sales. The number of new titles was low, but "Suikoden IV" at number one
drove the market, selling 186,000 units. "SUMMON NIGHT: Craft Sword Story 2"
also performed well, selling about 52,000 copies. It was a relatively favourable
week for new releases considering the season.
The hardware market suffered as much as the software market from the end of
obon, with a slower performance than last week by more or less all platforms. It
was a week that spelled the end of summer for both software and hardware.
