Project Entropia has announced a deal to license CryEngine 2 from Crytek.

Creator MindArk PE AB's CEO Jan Welter Timkrans explains, "The upgrade of Entropia Universe will be built around the spectacular features supplied by CryENGINE 2, offering a complete and immersive experience to Entropia participants. It will create synergies between the proven and safe Real Cash Economy backbone, the Entropia storyline with colonists fighting to establish a new world, and the very life-like visuals supplied from CryENGINE 2." He continues, "When we saw what the engine was capable of, we immediately understood that it would be perfect for Entropia, as both MindArk and Crytek are pioneers in their respective fields."

Avni Yerli, Crytek's Managing Director says, “We are thrilled to have been chosen by such a well regarded and successful industry leader as MindArk to be their future engine provider for Entropia Universe. We think the combination of our CryENGINE 2 technology and their extremely popular virtual playground will result in a new kind of rich and immersive experience that has not been possible until now. It will also expose a wide new audience to the stunningly realistic graphics, environmental physics and believable animations which are made possible by the award winning CryENGINE 2 together with some of the most recent advances in PC hardware and operating systems.â€
The transition to the new 3D engine is planned to be complete in mid-2008.

PSP Downloadable TV Shows Coming to UK//PSP News

It's been a long time coming, with most large companies that deliver such download services basically telling Europe users to go jump, but now Sony has teamed up with Sky TV in the UK to offer a downloadable media service for PSP owners in the UK.

The Joint Venture company, with equal Board level representation from SKY and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will draw on the unrivalled entertainment aggregation expertise and technical leadership of SKY, and the handheld entertainment knowledge and brand power of PlayStation. The company will establish PSP and the new ground breaking video download service as the natural partners for those seeking the ultimate choice of portable entertainment content.

Focusing exclusively on delivering video content to the PSP, the Joint Venture will initially provide a wealth of video and film content to the more than 2.3 million PSP owners in the UK and Ireland. The two companies are already in discussions with entertainment content providers across Europe to facilitate future introduction of the service to European PSP owners.
More information about the partnership will be announced at the Leipzig Games Convention.

Unsurprisingly a video game based on the TV series Lost is being developed.

"Ubisoft is thrilled to be collaborating with ABC to develop this phenomenal television series into an interactive experience," said Helene Juguet, US senior director of marketing for Ubisoft.

"Ubisoft has worked closely with ABC Studios and the show's producers to create a compelling storyline that has the same mystery, adventure and intensity fans of the show have come to expect from the 'Lost' brand."

"We're very excited to be working with Ubisoft to develop a game that captures the same surprise and intrigue as 'Lost,'" said Bruce Gersh, senior vice president, business development, ABC Entertainment and ABC Studios. "The series has such a loyal audience, and we're happy to bring fans an additional way to interact and engage with their favorite characters."

"The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost video game," said Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, executive producers of the 'Lost' television series. "Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show."
The game is due for release early 2008.
