| By Luke Newcombe We were invited to join Pro-G, Ubisoft for a day of Paintball and here is our report on the day: On Wednesday and Thursday last week, our friends over at Pro-G.co.uk held a Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tournament via Xbox Live. Hundreds of gamers signed up and prepared to engage in battle to not only win the respect of the community but to win places at Campaign Paintball. Out of all of the gamers that played in the tournament only fifteen players could go through to the next round which would be held at Campaign Paintball on the Saturday. On Saturday the fifteen finalists from the Pro-G Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter tournament alongside a number of competition winners from various Ubisoft promotional activities attended Campaign Paintball in Surrey. Upon arriving at the venue we were greeted by representatives from Campaign Paintball and Ubisoft. We were split into two groups: Team Ghosts, Team Rainbow and we were briefed on the forthcoming day of activities. Whilst the competition winners went off to play paintball the tournament finalists played in a GRAW Tournament which would see the top three players walk away with cash prizes! The GRAW tournament consisted of two 30minute rounds and a final round. The competition was fierce and all the players showed true sportsmanship as some progressed to the next round while others were eliminated from the tournament. Once the final round had been played we checked the scores to determine the winners. The winner walked away with a cheque for £300 while the two runners up walked away with £100 each. After the tournament had ended it was finally our turn to play paintball and I was keen to start shooting people as soon as possible. We were given our equipment and suited up for our first paintball match. Due to the extreme heat the goggles often steamed up which made it tricky to see where you were going yet we played our first game of paintball before grabbing some lunch. During lunch we made our way over to the car park to check out Adam Plumb's (Forza Motorsport Champion 2005) themed Xbox car which he won last year by playing in the official Forza Motorsport tournament. The car looked pretty sweet but due to the heat you could have probably fried an egg on the dashboard… I made my way back to the venue and engaged in a few more rounds of paintball and up until this time I had not been hit by a single paintball. During the third game I ran down to a barricade but lost my footing and fell on the floor. The barrel of my paintball gun fell to the ground and paintballs went everywhere… lucky enough one of my team mates came back and provided some cover fire while I reloaded my gun. As soon as my gun was reloaded I checked around and the pathway to the base seemed to be clear… I ran down the path and onto a bridge and before I knew it a volley of paintballs hit my arm, chest and hands – ouch! When Paintball had ended some people went home while others still in the sprit of the day made there way to the pub to watch the football. Overall it was the perfect end to a perfect day and as I've mentioned on my blog, I was extremely impressed with the organisation of the event and I felt privileged to be among those taking part so a massive thank you goes out to all of those that made it happen. If you ever want to try out Paintball then check out Campaign Paintballs website and book a day at the venue, you'll get shot but it will be good fun!
